Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa will be discussed in the context of the Extreme Polarities Theory, with an emphasis on why eating disorders occur in certain families and why there is continuity among opposing types of disturbances. Intervention principles as well as particular strategies will be taught, including clinical uses (and benefits) of direct and indirect hypnosis.

Describe six distinct approaches to short counseling for families.

CAMILLO LORIEDO, MD, PhD, is a Psychiatry and Psychotherapy professor at the University of Rome’s School of Medicine and Specialization. He has been on the Milton Erickson Foundation’s Board of Directors since 1998. He was just elected President of the Italian Psychotherapy Society. He has been on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis since 2005. Loriedo received the Milton H. Erickson Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the area of psychotherapy. He has written more than 350 scientific publications and 26 books.
