DescriptionDescription:
Rumination is the process of repeatedly circling the same ideas, evaluating why something happened or what to do about a problem. Rumination causes anxiety and despair and is perpetuated by the client’s belief that ruminating is “doing something.” In this class, we will look at rumination and its negative impacts, as well as the connection between rumination and global cognition and the need of establishing effective discernment abilities. We’ll also look at the importance of experiential techniques like hypnosis and mindfulness in therapy, both didactically and through a guided group experience.
Objectives of Education:
To discover three ways that ruminating affects anxious and depressed clients.
Determine the function of global cognition in the perpetuation of rumination.
Demonstrate a concentration method to foster mental “quieting.”*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
