Claudia Black, Ph.D., is known across the world for her innovative and cutting-edge work with family systems and addiction illnesses. In the late 1970s, her work with children affected by drug and alcohol addiction inspired the establishment of the codependency and developmental trauma sectors. The Claudia Black Young Adult Center was founded on Dr. Black’s desire to assist young adults in overcoming problems and strengthening families. Dr. Black is not only the clinical architect of this ground-breaking treatment approach; she also works closely with the treatment team, patients, and their families.

She also has over 20 DVDs available for professionals that work with families and clients.

Jay Haley (M.A., Stanford University, 1953) was the Director of the Family Therapy Institute in Washington, D.C. He was a key proponent of the strategic/interpersonal approach to family counseling. Haley worked at the Mental Research Institute as the Director of the Family Experiment Project and the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic as the Director of Family Therapy Research. He has written seven books, co-written two, and edited five. He has also contributed to over 40 professional publications and books. Haley is the previous editor of Family Process and the first winner of The Milton H. Erickson Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Judd Marmor, MD, was an American psychiatrist who was instrumental in the removal of homosexuality from the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Judd was a psychiatry adjunct professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the Franz Alexander Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He has been a practicing physician for for 50 years, after graduating from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1933. He is a previous president of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Psychoanalysis, and the Group for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis and Psychiatry. He has received the American College of Psychiatrists’ Bowis Award for Outstanding Achievements in Leadership in the Field of Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association’s Founders Award. Dr. Marmor served on 14 journal editorial boards. He wrote five novels and co-wrote one. He has authored or co-authored over 300 scholarly articles. He has written extensively on psychoanalysis and human sexuality.
