Unhealthy rage is one of the most unpleasant and terrifying emotions that therapists encounter.
Many clients are unwilling to make a shift. When someone is forced into therapy by their partner, workplace, or the legal system, they don’t give you anything to work with, making sessions feel bland and worthless.
Other agitated clients are combative during sessions. They shout, pose, and cast doubt on your abilities. It might take you off guard, leaving you feeling unsettled and struggling to control your own gut reaction to their wrath.
It’s tiring, and you wish there was a better way.
