What is the difference between GID and GD?
Objectives of Learning:
Examine the prevalence and comorbidities of Transgender and Gender Diverse (TGD) kids.
Examine the Gender Dysphoria criteria in the DSM-5.
Review key ideas and difficulties, and make recommendations for pediatric practitioners focusing on enhancing the health and good development of TGD adolescents while removing prejudice and stigma.
The American Osteopathic Association has accredited the Indiana Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians, and this program is designated for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits, with CME and specialty credits reported in proportion to the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.
Dr. Hunt is a child and adolescent psychiatry assistant professor at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. She collaborates with primary care physicians, psychologists, and social workers to provide integrated mental health care services to pediatric and adult patients in primary care clinics, primarily at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, as a physician leader for the Changing Health Outcomes through Integrated Care Excellence (CHOICE) program. In addition, through the IU Psychotropic Consultation program, Dr. Hunt provides psychiatric consulting services to the Department of Child Services. She also instructs third-year medical students and Indiana University child and adolescent psychiatric residents who cycle through the CHOICE integrated care clinics. Dr. Hunt also offers didactics courses for child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, focusing on gender-diverse and sexual minority children. She is a mentor to medical students at the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MUCOM) in Indianapolis.
