Beck is a leader in the field of cognitive behavioral therapy. She earned her Ph.D. from Penn in 1982. She has written several books and numerous articles, including the widely-read Cognitive Behavior Therapy: Basics and Beyond (which has been translated into over 20 languages), Cognitive Therapy for Difficult Problems, and several books aimed at consumers that take a CBT approach to losing weight and keeping it off. She is also an educator, supervisor, administrator, consultant, and developer of programs, and author.

Dr. Jon Douglas Carlson was a renowned educator-scholar, psychologist, athlete, spouse, and parent who specialized in Adlerian psychology.
On November 2, 1945, Jon Douglas Carlson was born in Elgin, Illinois. An accomplished scholar, educator, college professor, psychologist, competitive athlete, and champion for the betterment of his community, Jon also enjoyed a busy and fulfilling family life as the father of five children and husband of his high school sweetheart for 50 years. The first of his two doctorates, an Ed.D. in counseling and guidance from Wayne State University, was received by him in 1971. His second doctorate, a Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Adler University (then known as the Adler School of Professional Psychology), was acquired by him in 1990.
Jon was a well-respected professional psychologist who was honored by the American Psychological Association (APA) as a Fellow and Distinguished Psychologist, the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology (NASAP) with a Lifetime Contribution Award, and the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Orthopsychiatric Association (AOA), the International Academy of Family Psychology (IAFP), and the Wisconsin Psychology Association as a cherished member (WPA). He was a prominent figure in the fields of psychology and counseling on both the national and state levels, where he garnered multiple accolades for his efforts.
