This program investigates the nature of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and proposes an integrated methodology for treating individual difficulties in brief, solution-focused sessions. The main components of a safety plan and the creation of a community resource network are outlined. The therapeutic connection must be carefully managed as part of this method. Specific procedures are developed for prevalent BPD concerns such as suicide thoughts and self-injurious conduct.

Michael Munion, MA, LPC, has been a member of the Milton Erickson Foundation since 1980. He has been a psychotherapist in Arizona since 1979 and an activist in integrated primary and behavioral health care. He has given several Ericksonian and Brief Therapy workshops in the United States, Europe, and Mexico. He is co-editor of What Is Psychotherapy?: Contemporary Perspectives and co-author of Sage’s book on Milton H. Erickson.
