DescriptionDescription:
Changing mood and viewpoint is key in short treatment. Experiential methods can be more successful right away than standard didactic ones. By definition, all art is “experiential.” Whether it’s theatre, art, literature, dance, or music, the goal is to change one’s mood and viewpoint. Multilayered ways of transformation are used in films. The audience is frequently ignorant of the subtle dramatic and sensory strategies used by filmmakers to create influence. Social psychology explores the way in which people are impacted outside of consciousness. Contextual markers and demand characteristics are two areas of social psychology that are being studied in order to better understand human response. Filmmaking and social psychology concepts can help to develop the practice of short therapy. In this class, we will look at experiential clinical methods through the lenses of filmmakers and social psychologists, particularly those influenced by Milton Erickson.
Objectives of Education:
Three filmmaker strategies that may be utilized in psychotherapy should be listed.
Describe a way for increasing the effectiveness of a therapeutic aim by appealing to the client’s visual system.*Sessions may be altered for content and to ensure confidentiality*
