Interaction Focused Therapy (IFT) knowledge provides the therapist with the ability to rapidly understand problematic conduct. The essential foundations of this evidence-based approach, derived from Don Jackson’s, Gregory Bateson’s, and colleagues’ Communication Theory, and successful with the largest variety of issues, will be taught, with an emphasis on particular tactics for fostering change.
Objectives of Education:
Describe four essential Interactional Theory premises for understanding individual behavior as part of patterns of relationship dynamics.
Show at least four specific tactics for eliciting positive change in symptom-inducing interpersonal circumstances.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*

Wendel A. Ray, Ph.D., is the Hammond Endowed Professor of Education and Professor of Family System Theory in The University of Louisiana-Marriage Monroe’s and Therapy Program (ULM). Dr. Ray, the former Director of the Mental Research Institute (MRI) in Palo Alto, California, and a former member of the MRI Brief Therapy Center and the MRI Strategic Family Therapy Project, is still an MRI Senior Research Fellow.
