In the serious world of psychotherapy, where is the humor? We will discuss the reasoning for and practical use of the deliberate and purposeful use of humor in psychotherapy in this entertaining lecture loaded with tales and clinical analogies. Humor has the power to influence the fundamental parts of human experience—cognitions, emotions, actions, and physiology. We will look at how humor may be used to develop relationships, diagnose, and treat patients, as well as distinguish between empathetic and antagonistic comedy types.

Objectives of Education:

Describe the relationship between humor and emotions, actions, ideas, and biology.
Explain how to use humor knowingly and strategically to develop therapeutic relationships, treat, and diagnose.
