Adlerian psychotherapy is a successful short therapy style that incorporates elements from a variety of other techniques. Adler’s thoughts emphasize the significance of comprehending not just the person but also the societal milieu. This method stresses personal responsibility and working from a multi-cultural perspective. This method consists of four steps: engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation. The treatment is positive in nature, with the therapist use encouraging tactics to assist the client in identifying their assets and abilities. Actual session DVDs will be utilized to emphasize the process and demonstrate how this technique may achieve short-term change.

On November 2, 1945, Jon Douglas Carlson was born in Elgin, Illinois. Jon was a proud, active father of five children who had been married to the love of his life for 50 years. He was a prolific scholar, educator, college professor, psychologist, competitive athlete, and community champion. In 1971, he received his first doctorate, an Ed.D. in Counseling and Guidance from Wayne State University, and in 1990, he received his second doctorate, a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Adler University (previously the Adler School of Professional Psychology).
Jon was a Fellow and Distinguished Psychologist of the American Psychological Association (APA); a Lifetime Contribution awardee of the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology (NASAP); and an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), American Orthopsychiatric Association, International Academy of Family Psychology (IAFP), and Wisconsin Psychology Association (WPA). He garnered multiple accolades for his professional work and held national and state leadership roles in counseling and psychology.
