Brief Therapy Conference 2018 | Online Continuing Education Faculty: Reid Wilson, PhD Course Levels: Master’s Degree or Higher in a Health-Related Field
Duration: 1:00:23 Format: Only Audio
Date of the original program: December 8, 2018 DescriptionDescription:
Those who fall victim to obsessive-compulsive disorder create a potion of avoidance and resistance as their sole methods of control. How can you persuade someone to embrace uncomfortable uncertainty when their heart, mind, and soul are devoted to finding clarity and comfort? Participants will learn a convincing technique that will frame the whole treatment procedure, which will be created entirely from scratch at the first session. Participants will learn how to work with the customer to create behavioral tests to evaluate this method.
Objectives of Education:
Construct a therapeutic, internally consistent paradoxical frame of reference for an OCD client in a logical and compelling manner.
Teach OCD patients how to engage this new frame of reference moment by moment when confronted with frightening events.
Explain how reappraisal may be used to trigger “approach” emotions during exposure.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
