While confrontation is frequently the greatest approach to help clients analyze their role in a situation, many therapists are concerned about the tension that arises during confrontation. Leam will use confrontation in couples treatment, with a focus on matching the intensity of the confrontation—from mild to tough—to the level of impasse. The emphasis will be on how to choose what to face, when to confront, and how to gradually construct a confrontation. You will leave this workshop with a better understanding of the mindset and posture required to utilize confrontation more effectively at work.
Objectives of Education:
To identify two unacceptable behaviors that necessitate confrontation in couples counseling.
To define a cycle of confrontation that can occur at any time throughout a session.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
