Interpersonal neurobiology is a method of defining mental health and the kind of social experiences required by the brain to produce a cohesive mind. This multidisciplinary synthesis of science uncovers an intriguing convergence of research discoveries that aids us in exploring the interplay between relationships, the mind, and the brain in mental health. Experience changes brain connections in ways that we can now understand and use in psychotherapy to increase the neuronal activation and development required for resilience and emotional well-being.
Objectives of Education:
To identify the nine prefrontal functions that are at the root of safe connection and emotional well-being.
To outline the various ways that experience develops the brain.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
Faculty
Dr. Daniel Siegel 40 related lectures and goodsDaniel Siegel, MD, obtained his medical degree from Harvard University and then went on to finish his postgraduate medical studies at UCLA, where he specialized in pediatrics, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. He is presently a clinical professor of psychiatry at UCLA School of Medicine, where he also serves on the faculty of the Center for Culture, Brain, and Development and is the co-founder of the Mindful Awareness Research Center. Dr. Siegel has given speeches for the King of Thailand, Pope John Paul II, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Google University, the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in London, and TEDx.
