Judith S. Beck, Ph.D., is the President of the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Philadelphia, a non-profit organization that offers a variety of training programs to health and mental health professionals all over the world, as well as a Clinical Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1982, she obtained her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. She has written more than 100 chapters and articles, as well as several books, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy: Basics and Beyond, which has been translated into more than 20 languages, Cognitive Therapy for Challenging Problems, and consumer books on a CBT approach to weight loss and maintenance. Teaching, clinical practice, supervision, administration, program creation and consultancy, and writing take up the majority of her time.

Claudia Black, Ph.D., is known across the world for her innovative and cutting-edge work with family systems and addiction illnesses. Arnold A. Lazarus, Ph.D., was a Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. Lazarus served on 10 professional journal editorial boards. He was president of the Association for Advancement of Behavior Therapy and won the American Board of Professional Psychology’s Distinguished Service to the Profession of Psychology Award. In 1960, he received his Ph.D. from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
