Dr. Szasz will contrast the psychiatric and social situations of the late 1950s, when he authored The Myth of Menta/Illness, with the current psychiatric and social scenes. He will hypothesize on the book’s influence on psychiatric and psychotherapy philosophy and practice. The audience is invited to participate actively.

Thomas Szasz, MD, Professor Seminars and items related to: 44
Professor of Psychiatry at the State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, Thomas S. Szasz (M.D., University of Cincinnati, 1944). He received various honors, including the American Humanist Association’s Humanist of the Year Award and the American Institute for Public Service’s Distinguished Service Award. He has received many honorary doctorates and lectureships, as well as serving on the editorial boards or as consulting editor for eleven publications.
Szasz has written almost 400 articles, book chapters, book reviews, letters to the editor, and columns. He has published 19 novels.
