Stephen Gilligan, Ph.D., works as a Psychologist in Encinitas, California. He was one of the early NLP students at UC Santa Cruz; Milton Erickson and Gregory Bateson were his teachers. He became one of the foremost professors and practitioners of Ericksonian hypnosis after getting his doctorate in psychology from Stanford University. This work evolved into his original ideas of Self-Relations and Generative Self, and then further (in partnership with Robert Dilts) into Generative Coaching. These many traditions have all been updated and incorporated into the current Generative Change Work, which includes Generative Coaching, Generative Psychotherapy, Generative Trance, Hero’s Journey, and Systemic Change work.
