For over 25 years, she has been a psychotherapist and is globally known for her publications and training workshops in solution-focused and Ericksonian treatment. The Milwaukee Brief Family Therapy Center is affiliated with them. She has six publications to her credit, including More Than Miracles: The State of the Art of Solution-Focused Therapy, which she co-wrote with the late Steve de Shazer and others and will be published in 2006.

John Frykman, MDiv, PhD, is a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, the founder of Cypress Institute, an ordained Lutheran minister, and the organizer of the Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic’s Drug Treatment Program. From 1969 through 1979, he studied privately with Dr. Erickson, watching, sharing, and discussing cases with him. He has taught, consulted, trained, and supervised students in 27 states and 16 countries. He worked as a Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Case Manager at Ross Hospital CD Unit (Marin County) and Ohloff Intensive Outpatient Services in California (San Francisco). He continues to consult and perform Brief Solution Focused Psychotherapy in his own practice.
