Date of the original program: December 7, 2011 DescriptionDescription:
Movies are sophisticated multisensory stories that mirror a certain universe, carrying messages and solutions to allow the audience to empathize with the movie characters. Viewers become absorbed in films and empathize, consciously or unconsciously recognizing one’s own significant themes in life. They have the potential to act as catalysts for developmental processes that can be applied in psychotherapy. Participants in this session will learn about the processes of watching movies and the transition into therapy.
Objectives of Education:
Describe different ways for using movies to stimulate therapeutic processes.
Describe a mechanism for therapists to find and use therapeutically relevant movies.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
