Based on Carol and Bill’s new book, this session will give a novel method to psychotherapy that includes the most recent neuroscience research and reveals the seven brain circuits that clinicians may assist switch on and off for transformation. The program demonstrates how to manage emotions and actions by regulating states of thought. Therapists learn how to assist their clients employ resourceful mental states to reduce stress and gain personal mastery by using integrative ideas from clinical hypnosis, biofeedback, and meditation.
Objectives of Education:
Discuss the most recent and useful neuroscience ideas that may be used to hypnosis and psychotherapy.

Carol Kershaw, EdD, is a member of the faculty. Seminars and items related to: 17
Carol Kershaw, Ed.D., is a private practice licensed psychologist and Co-Director of the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Houston. She is an AAMFT-approved supervisor, a member of the American Psychological Association, and an American Society of Clinical Hypnosis-approved consultant.
She also belongs to the International Society of Hypnosis. She is the author of The Couple’s Hypnotic Dance and has written several publications on the use of hypnosis for diabetes, children asthma, trauma recovery, and weight reduction. She has been invited to write for Family Therapy Magazine. Dr. Kershaw has given workshops and talks at multiple Erickson Congresses, ASCH annual scientific meetings, Evolution of Psychotherapy conferences, and AAMFT conferences, as well as being asked to provide seminars in Canada, South America, and Europe. She was also invited to Saudi Arabia to lead a trauma intervention medical team. Dr. Kershaw has performed with the Houston Ballet, Westminster Abbey and York Minster in England, Thomas Kirsche in Germany, and the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Bill Wade, PhD Additional lectures and products: 7Bill Wade, PhD is a psychotherapist at the Institute for Family Psychology in Houston, Texas, and the Co-Director of the Milton Erickson Institute of Houston. He is a marital and family therapist as well as a professional counselor in Texas. Bill has supervisory authority on both licenses. In New York City, he earned a Master’s degree in Psychiatry and Religion from Union Theological Seminary. Bill is a member and approved supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, as well as a member and approved consultant of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He also belongs to the International Society of Hypnosis and the American Counseling Association. Bill has given seminars on Clinical Hypnosis, Meditation, Overcoming Anxiety and Depression, Panic Disorder, Relationship Enhancement, Divorce Recovery, Parenting, and Peak Performance all throughout the United States. He has created several audio CDs on this and other themes, and he was previously the review editor for the Milton Erickson Foundation Newsletter.
