Barry Johnson is a founding member of the legal firm Bennett Tueller Johnson & Deere in Salt Lake City, Utah (BTJD). He co-founded BTJD with two college pals when they both started their jobs at major, prestigious legal firms. They have expanded BTJD to over 35 attorneys. It is a business organization that provides a comprehensive range of services. BTJD is well-known for its group of top-tier lawyers—lawyers that know how to get the finest results for their customers.
Mr. Johnson is a member of BTJD’s management committee. He often advises the firm and other legal firms on matters such as law firm management, conflicts of interest, and ethics. He is also the head of BTJD’s business litigation practice. His favorite aspect of his career is managing and trying cases, particularly jury trials. He has successfully managed complex, high-stakes disputes involving a wide range of subject matters for nearly thirty years, including partnership disputes, class actions, securities fraud cases, employment disputes (including disputes relating to the enforceability of restrictive covenants), trade secret litigation, real estate development disputes, construction defect litigation, and adversary proceedings in bankruptcy cases. Mr. Johnson has tried, arbitrated, mediated, and effectively resolved hundreds of cases over his career. His area of expertise is trial advocacy and oral argument. Clients, judges, jurors, and coworkers frequently comment on Mr. Johnson’s courtroom prowess and effectiveness. He is noted for striking the ideal blend of emotion and logic, while simplifying and simplifying complicated subjects. Since 1992, Mr. Johnson has been a member of the Utah State Bar. He is admitted to practice law in state and federal courts in Utah, as well as the Ninth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. His colleagues have frequently chosen him as one of Utah’s “Legal Elite.” Mr. Johnson just joined NOSSCR and advises businesses on disability compensation. Mr. Johnson graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies in 1988. In Salem, Oregon, he earned his Juris Doctorate and graduated with honors from Willamette University School of Law. He won the Willamette University Law Review’s first-year moot court competition and served as Articles Editor.
