I lived in Spain for six months and was still frightened of initiating a conversation in Spanish. I studied languages. Even back then, I lacked the confidence to approach strangers.

We understand that we “should” learn grammar. We know we “should” allocate aside time every day for language practice. We understand that we “should” remember vocabulary.

But does any of this ever occur?

No. Instead, we believe we are constrained by our “limitations.” Language learning, we assume, is just for talented geniuses. We convince ourselves that we’re too old, or that we can’t travel, or that we have a bad memory.

I had no idea how to study languages when I first started. I’m not a “natural” or “talented” language learner. And I don’t consider myself a particularly committed student.

How did I manage to learn so many languages?

Here’s what altered the situation.

I assumed that language is about communicating.
It’s all about meeting new individuals.
It’s all about exploring new worlds.
It’s a societal phenomenon.

Yet, far too frequently, we associate language learning with sitting at a desk and reading from a textbook. All of the excitement and emotion have vanished. And language study should be about having fun and being passionate about it.

In other words, I discovered that if I just began speaking a language from the outset and immersed myself in it, I automatically picked it up.

I discovered that I wanted to study after meeting intriguing individuals and wanting to understand more about them.

Motivation was essential, and I’ll teach you how to find it. Confidence is also important, and I’ll explain how to achieve it. You can learn any language if you have confidence and desire. However, you will encounter hurdles. That’s why I created methods to help me learn more quickly.
