We recorded cities and towns in over ten European countries in order to capture their distinct personalities.

The sounds arrive with little action in the foreground to provide a very clear and detailed acoustic image of each environment, providing you with the ideal background noise layer to break the silence in your post production project.

Streets and restaurants are recorded, as are squares, harbors, markets, commercial areas, parks, and busy shopping areas, as well as industrial zones and construction sites. This library can also be used in stereo productions. You can either choose your own listening angle or use the stereo version (included in 3D SURROUND).

Everything from ultra-silent to lively, confined to wide open, dry and close to reverberant is delivered in an immersive 3D audio format that is also backwards compatible.

To get even more mileage out of the library, the average sound is 3-5 minutes long.

URBAN EUROPE is the fifth installment in our well-known new sound effect series 3D SURROUND. It ushers in a new era of surround sound FX libraries, delivering unprecedented precision, spatial impression, and clarity. Where traditional surround techniques fail, 3D Surround produces better results. This is especially true, but not exclusively, in virtual reality, where events must sound completely convincing based on the rotation and tilt of the user’s head. Our new 3D SURROUND series is ideal for not only VR, but any other application that requires high-definition, crystal-clear surround sound.

WHAT MAKES 3D SURROUND SO UNIQUE?

3D Surround has two significant advantages over traditional surround sound. On the one hand, 3D Surround allows for much better and clearer location of individual sound sources. 3D Surround, on the other hand, better reflects height differences. This produces a more expansive and much clearer sound image in a quality that conventional surround sound cannot match.

THE THIRD DIMENSION – PERFECT FOR VR & DOLBY ATMOSPHERES

In comparison to regular surround, 3D Surround adds a height layer as a third dimension. The sound enters the listener’s ear not only from the side, but also from above. This results in much better sound source localization and a much more immersive listening experience, making it the ideal surround type for VR applications and Dolby Atmos.

RECORDED USING THE MOST CURRENT TECHNOLOGY

The SCHOEPS ORTF-3D setup, a cuboid 8ch level/time difference ambience setup, was used to record our 3D Surround libraries. The main advantage over standard surround recording setups is an additional height layer. It is made up of eight supercardioid microphones.

The height layer provides a much broader range of spatial sound effects, as well as a more realistic three-dimensional reproduction. As a result, it offers a more accurate representation of spatial depth, a more natural surround impression, enhanced envelopment, and an authentic feel.
