Hayden Center, PhD, LPC, has been treating people and families suffering from drug addiction problems, including opioid use disorder, in a private practice environment for over 25 years. Dr. Center was most recently an evaluator for the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention’s (CSAP) Southeast Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies (SECAPT) and Border Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies (BCAPT) (BCAPT).
Dr. Center spent ten years as a consultant to the Alabama Governor’s Office of Drug Abuse Policy and has worked with various state and municipal entities in Alabama.
Over 200 trainings on science-based prevention, assessment, risk and protective factors, co-occurring disorders, and other mental health and drug misuse concerns have been delivered by him. His current interests include offering training and technical help to improve the utilization and efficacy of evidence-based treatments and methods.
Dr. Center has been teaching at universities for over 28 years, in addition to his own practice. At Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama, he teaches graduate-level courses in Theories of Psychotherapy, Advanced Objective Testing, Psychopharmacology, and undergraduate psychology courses. At Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama, he received his PhD in counselor education and his Master of Science in psychology.
