“An elegant, unsentimental, and wonderful work. This is the greatest of its sort I’ve seen, including everything from photos of African fertility rituals to detailed tantrik techniques, French phallic antique stone sculptures to a study of pheromones. “Strongly recommended.” , a,,,,,,,,,
“Aside from the erotic overtones, sexual energy is the universe’s great rejuvenator, making this a wonderful reference tool for intellectually minded energy practitioners. It will also be of interest to individuals who are serious about studying old goddess heritage. Consider strategically exhibiting it to increase sales of essential oils, incense, candles, and even jewelry (agate, jade, and amber are all aphrodisiacs).” (Retailing Insight, December 2011; Anna Jedrziewski)
“Three decades of cultural and scientific inquiry underlie this panoramic compilation of all substances sexually stimulating. The anthropology writers describe over 400 lust-inspiring botanical, animal, mineral, and man-made products, with explanations on techniques of usage, preparation, and dosage. Their legality and historical significance are also examined. This is a great and uncommon resource that includes 800 color images. Verdict This book is a true labor of love, with commentary from the writers’ experiences as well as ‘personal reports of friends and coworkers.’ (Christina Connolly, December 2012, Library Journal)
“In developing this book, Christian Rätsch and Claudia Müller-Ebeling have joined a rising chorus of observant voices asking that our natural sexual nature not only be recognized but actively cherished, for it is a fundamental feature of our humanness. Their encouraging examination of the vast variety and nature of aphrodisiacs is a welcome contribution to the increasing body of information about our human pursuit of pleasure.” (Author Stephen Harrod Buhner, The Secret Teachings of Plants)
“The Encyclopedia of Aphrodisiacs is a sensual and colorful encyclopedia of plants and potions that energize the senses and feed the body, shifting one’s thoughts and actions toward love, pleasure, and desire. This book, full of mystery, magic, myth, and science, opens the door to a universe of time-tested treatments that help us reach our greatest potential as incredible lovers of life.” (Author Brigitte Mars, The Sexual Herbal)
“A thorough and academic examination of humanity’s extensive employment of ‘Agents of the Love Goddess.'” A fantastic job of presenting the typically controversial topic of aphrodisiacs in the context of pharmacology, herbalism, and human sexuality.” (David Hoffmann, FNIMH, RH, author of Medical Herbalism and cofounder of the American Herbalist Guild)
