This presentation is on the current pathophysiology and the evaluation and management of athletic-related traumatic brain injuries.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the importance of proper diagnosis for head injury/concussion in athletes.
- Review the basic pathology of brain injury and how this affects treatment.
- Gain an understanding of the treatment course for the injured athlete.
- Understand the proper protocol for return to play.

Dr. Chris Wolf graduated from AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to complete a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency with the University of Missouri, Columbia. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation as well as subspecialty Board Certified in Brain Injury Medicine. Dr. Wolf is currently a partner in Bluetail Medical Group and works out of clinics throughout Missouri in Chesterfield, Columbia, and Farmington. Dr. Wolf previously served in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Missouri School of Medicine as an Associate Professor of Clinical Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Wolf is well known at MAOPS as he was a Wetzel Scholar for six years, is a MAOPS Board member, is currently the President-elect of MAOPS, and is a recipient of the prestigious MAOPS President’s Award for meritorious service.
