It’s difficult to keep up with the changing state of COVID-19 and influenza, with changes in both viruses affecting immunization effectiveness. This seminar will provide an evidence-based evaluation of the COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations in the geriatric population. Eric Wombwell, PharmD, BCIDP, a board-certified infectious diseases pharmacist, will provide the most recent changes to help guide effective administration of COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations. Practitioners will leave the program feeling confident in their decision-making abilities.
Eric Wombwell, PharmD, BCIDP, is a board-certified infectious diseases pharmacist and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Pharmacy’s Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration.
Dr. Wombwell earned his PharmD from the University of Missouri Kansas City, and then went on to complete an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. Wombwell accepted a full-time non-tenured clinical faculty job at the Kansas City VA Medical Center after completing his residency. Wombwell accepted a full-time non-tenured clinical faculty job at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Pharmacy after completing his residency. His responsibilities include instructing Doctor of Pharmacy students in a range of courses, with a focus on infectious illnesses. Wombwell works as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist as part of a multidisciplinary team at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri, providing treatment to severely sick patients.
Dr. Wombwell is well-published in pharmacy and infectious disease-related themes and is regularly requested to talk on infectious disease topics to various health-professional groups both locally and nationally. Over ten years, he has been recognized teacher of the year in numerous roles, including the “UMKC Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.”
