Description Knowing HOW to think is significantly more essential than learning WHAT to think for long-term success in school, career, and life.
Nonetheless, rather than serving as the foundation of any reasonable human being’s education, we have consigned the teaching of logic, argument analysis, and critical thinking to speciality courses in universities that reach far too few students much too late in their education.
In this course, I’ll share my expanding understanding of these issues, with an emphasis on what’s practical and valuable for developing as autonomous critical thinkers.
The course now comprises over 200 videos totaling over 19 hours of watching time!
You will learn about the following topics:
why critical thinking is necessary
the distinction between logic and argument
what determines whether an argument is good or terrible
background information is essential for critical thinking approaches such as argument analysis and reconstruction.
what our expanding study of the human mind teaches us about how we acquire beliefs and make decisions
how tribalism and political polarization impair our capacity to think critically; how scientific disagreements sometimes hinge on the definitions of crucial terminology such as “theory,” “law,” and “hypothesis”
how to make sense of chance and uncertainty
how to create an effective argumentative essay
how to properly acknowledge sources and avoid plagiarism in writing
plus a lot more! This material is derived from a range of instructional tools I’ve created over the years, including a video podcast.
It’s critical that you realize that I’m always adding new videos and course modules.
This course will continue to expand since I have a LOT of ground to cover!
THIS IS ONLY THE START!
Who is this course aimed at?
