Method of Wong Shun Leung Sifu David Peterson teaches Wing Chun Kung fu at the Melbourne Chinese Martial Arts Club (MCMAC) in Melbourne, Australia.
Sifu Since 1973, David Peterson has been studying Chinese martial arts.
After visiting Hong Kong in 1983, he became a student of Sifu Wong Shun Leung.
David is one of only two qualified instructors of Wong Shun Leung’s system in Australia, having been personally authorized by Sifu Wong before his death, and is a fully endorsed member of the worldwide ‘Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun (Wing Chun) Martial Arts Association’ and the Hong Kong-based ‘Ving Tsun Athletic Association’.
He graduated from the University of Melbourne with a major in Chinese studies and has been a Chinese language teacher for over twenty years.
David would interpret for his teacher whenever Sifu Wong Shun Leung held seminars in Australia.
Peterson is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese, which aided him in thoroughly learning and comprehending Sifu Wong’s Wing Chun Kung Fu system.
David’s sole goal is to pass on the skills, knowledge, and understanding of Wing Chun as taught to him by Wong Shun Leung.
Peterson is an active member of the local Chinese community, serving as the only non-Chinese member of the ‘Melbourne Chinese Masonic Society’ (‘Man Ji Dong’) and a member of their Lion Dance Team.
He is a former Victorian Chairman of the ‘Federation of Australasian Kung-fu Organizations’ (FAKO), a position he held for eight years, and an Accredited Coach under the Australian Federal Government’s ‘National Coaching Accreditation Scheme’ (NCAS).
