DescriptionWhen it comes to recovering mind and body after trauma, neurobiology has proved that we must “come to our senses.” Expressive arts therapy is a somatically oriented technique that addresses not just the brain’s cognitive experience of trauma, but also the body’s sensory experience of trauma in ways that no other treatment can.
This presentation will teach you the fundamental principles needed to use expressive techniques to assist clients in accessing embodied awareness and successfully addressing experiences that keep them bound in dread, isolation, and shame. Participants will learn how to use basic rhythmic, movement-oriented, image-making, and other strategies to help traumatized clients feel secure, peaceful, and energized again.
