Nursing informatics leaders are used to lead and cooperate on new concepts and technology implementation that provide a supporting foundation for surviving change in the unpredictable environment of healthcare. We will look at informatics solutions and healthcare technology advancements to improve clinical management in the response to and support of clinicians providing treatment during the COVID 19 pandemic. We will discuss the technologies used by various organizations, such as the electronic health record, clinical decision support, laboratory screening, data and analytics, telemedicine, and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, we will examine the problems that healthcare organizations have in supporting clinicians while seeking to restructure old care delivery models to meet the changing requirements of the community.

Dr. Michelle Hamland and Dr. Kimberly Khoury-Dillon are Doctorate-level Informatics Nurse Specialists with substantial clinical and informatics experience. They have over 35 years of clinical expertise in critical care, emergency services, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, obstetrics, medical-surgical, and clinical research. They are trained in the design, implementation, and assessment of healthcare information technology. Dr. Hamland and Dr. Khoury-Dillon, as Informatics Nurse Specialists, are committed to acting as liaisons between clinicians and IT while using new technology in the creation of novel solutions. During the COVID 19 epidemic, they were critical in creating quick emergency responses to promote the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care using technology.
