Common Herbal & Nutritional Supplements

1. Participants will be able to identify patients in their practice who can benefit from one of the common supplements presented and feel comfortable with dosing. 2. Participants will have an introductory understanding of network pharmacology on which to build. 3. Participants will be have tools to quickly review the safety and efficacy data available for common supplements.

Medical & Legal Adult-Use Cannabis Update

1. Describe the basic mechanisms of action in cannaboid medicine. 2. Summarize the findings of the 2017 National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Report on the safety and efficacy of medical cannabis. 3. Describe observed public health impacts of adult use cannabis legalization. 

Medical Acupuncture

1. Be able to describe how acupuncture works from both Eastern and Western medicine perspectives. 2. Feel comfortable knowing when acupuncture is indicated. 3. Be equipped to better inform patients about acupuncture as another modality to deal with both acute and chronic issues. 

The Maine Osteopathic Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.The Maine Osteopathic Association designates this program for a maximum of 1.5 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Dr. Dustin Sulak is an integrative medicine physician and leader in the emerging field of cannabinoid medicine.  His clinical practice focuses on treating refractory conditions in adults and children.  Dr. Sulak is the founder of Integr8 Health, a medical practice in Maine that follows over 8,000 patients using medical cannabis, Healer.com, a medical cannabis patient education resource, and Cannabis Expertise, a continuing medical education curriculum.  He sits on the board of directors of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians and has lectured to healthcare providers internationally on the science and clinical applications of cannabis.

Danielle Saad, DORelated seminars and products: 1

Danielle Saad, D.O. is physician board certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Physiology and Neuroscience from the University of California at San Diego, and a degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University.  She completed her residency in Family Medicine from Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency with an emphasis on rural primary care.  She also has studied formally or informally various forms of healing including Osteopathic manipulation, Reiki and other energy medicine modalities, nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, and hypnotherapy.  She is the co-owner and co-medical director of Integr8 Health, an integrative medicine practice in Maine with a focus in medical cannabis.  Her practice focuses on children and adults with neurological illnesses, severe chronic pain, PTSD, tick born illness, and complex chronic illnesses that don’t fit well into traditional diagnostic categories, and have been refractory to conventional medical care.

Meghann Derosier, DORelated seminars and products: 2

Meghann Derosier graduated from UNECOM in 2007. Upon completing her Family Medicine residency, she served as an Osteopathic Family Physician in the US Air Force. It was there she was given the opportunity to study medical acupuncture with the Helms Medical Institute. She went on to become board certified in Medical Acupuncture. Since separating from the military in 2013, she has worked as a Hospitalist at Eastern Maine Medical Center and currently is a fellow in the Palliative Care and Hospice Fellowship Program at EMMC.
