Description
Give your clients the ability to live in the now and leave worry and agony behind!
Learn from a “master,” Jon Kabat Zinn.
What are your interests as a therapist? Begin exploring, rediscovering, and transforming your life RIGHT NOW!I recall working as a psychotherapist in a non-profit HMO, seeing client after client after client. They were uneasy, prone to panic attacks, or just unable to cope with stress. They had seen doctors, but with little result. I was useless because I was locked in a cycle of treating symptoms and focused on what was wrong instead of addressing them as individuals and reinforcing what was great.
Desperate to find a better solution for myself and my customers, I strolled into a lunchtime meditation session with the most beautiful, vibrant, and confident teacher. After only one session, I felt more energized, more able to handle, and more attentive to my clients.
Jon Kabat-Zinn, the pioneer of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, was the kind and vibrant instructor.
That was 30 years ago, and since then, with the guidance of Jon Kabat-Zinn, I’ve been able to improve my life and practice by using the concepts I saw emerge from that yoga session in Worcester, Massachusetts. I became an instructor alongside Jon, opened my own clinic, and began to experience amazing therapeutic successes with my clients. I was feeling energized and assured of myself and my clinical job.
Then I was diagnosed with cancer in 1995. I put Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction to the test, learning firsthand how to deal with the agony and stress of chemotherapy and everything else that comes with a stem cell transplant.
My personal and professional experience with this evidence-based approach inspired the creation of the Mindfulness-Based Intervention for Bone Marrow Transplants at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Emory University, and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction transformed my life and the lives of many of my clients. I’d like to share these techniques with you. This technique will alter your clients’ emotional and bodily anguish.
