Dr. Peter Pearson and Dr. Ellyn Bader Pearson created The Couples Institute in 1984 in Menlo Park, California. Before Pete’s retirement as a psychologist in 2018, the two of them ran The Couples Institute. The private practice he ran from 1984 until this year was supplemented by 11 years as an Associate Consulting Professor at Stanford University’s Department of Counseling Psychology. Dr. Pearson also conducts intensive programs for couples and is regularly requested to speak at conferences for therapists.
