What are your students planning to do to commemorate Energy Awareness Month?
The United States Department of Energy marks October as Energy Awareness Month each year. Many schools participate in energy efficiency and conservation initiatives throughout the month. As many families prepare for the winter heating season, these school activities are a good fit. It makes sense to use energy responsibly, both for the environment and for the economy.
Consider utilizing the following NEED activities to educate about the energy sources we use and how to utilize them more effectively in October.
Activities for Energy Efficiency and Conservation
Use NEED’s Energy Booklist to teach and learn about energy. This list provides students with multi-level energy-related nonfiction and fiction literature.
The Energy Expo was designed to provide students more opportunities to learn about energy efficiency solutions while also strengthening their research and presenting abilities.
Sign the Energy Conservation Contract with the entire class to vow to be more energy efficient at home and on the road!
Celebrate Energy Awareness Month by learning more about how you use energy and making more energy-efficient energy choices!
Cold season is on its way, which is an excellent opportunity to examine the science underlying heat fluxes into and out of a system, as well as undertake a home energy audit! Students may do an energy audit of their house and share the results with their classmates.
