The following are the learning objectives:
Recognize the value of collaboration between primary care providers and HIV experts in the care of patients.
Recognize HIV screening and treatment guidelines.
Examine the role of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in HIV prevention and find PrEP indications.
Describe how to prescribe and manage PrEP patients.
Dr. Shweta is an Assistant Professor of Medicine, a board-certified Internal Medicine physician, and the current Chief Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship program at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. She finished her residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, then went to medical school at India’s famed Armed Forces Medical College. She was an active duty medical officer in the Indian Army, where she held a variety of leadership and instructional positions.
Dr. Shweta is an active HIV researcher and member of the infectious diseases division’s HIV focus group at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Her clinical interests include HIV infection and immunocompromised adults. She is also interested in and has clinical experience with tropical infectious disorders. Bedside teaching, educational curriculum building, and communication in a demanding health care situation are among her interests.
