What Is the Process of a Fast?
Every day, we fast for at least 8-10 hours — while we sleep.

Isn’t Fasting Bad for Your Metabolism?
You’ve undoubtedly heard that fasting is bad for your body since it teaches it to “hang on to calories” after the fast. Your metabolism slows, making it easier to gain weight after a fast.
The evidence indicates that it is untrue.
Martin Berkhan, an athlete, observes intermittent fasting and writes:
“Short-term fasting really increases metabolic rate.” For specifics, research have found a 3.6% – 10% rise after 36-48 hours. From an evolutionary standpoint, this makes sense. The neurotransmitters epinephrine and norepinephrine (adrenaline/noradrenaline) sharpen the intellect and make us desire to move about. Desirable characteristics that prompted us to seek food or the hunter to kill his prey, thereby enhancing survival. After many days of not eating, this benefit would have provided little benefit to survival and would have likely done more damage than good; instead, an adaptation that promoted energy saving proved useful. As a result, metabolic rate increases during short-term fasting (up to 60 hours).”

People who fast on a regular basis have a lower body weight than those who do not. Practicing the correct sort of fasting program for you will not cause you to compensate by overeating on non-fasting days. You will not acquire weight if you do not eat!
