She is the founder and designer of the popular BrainWorksTM tools, a method for establishing effective sensory diets that allows children to take responsibility of their sensory demands.
Gwen is dedicated to teaching children how to self-regulate in order to appropriately manage their actions and emotions. In her responsibilities as an educator, consultant to two school systems, and provider of private pediatric occupational therapy services in homes, she works directly with educators, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, BCBAs, and other professionals.
Gwen speaks on sensory modulation and self-regulation issues all around the world, offering practitioners, parents, and teachers who deal with children and adolescents effective treatments and interventions. She has spoken at various state and local conventions and has been on podcasts. Gwen has directed and co-authored two research projects on the use of sensory methods to improve self-regulation, the most recent of which was published in a peer-reviewed publication. She is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, as well as the Michigan Occupational Therapy Association.
