This DVD provides a thorough learning approach for Hapkido practitioners of all levels, from beginner to advanced. What exactly is Hapkido? HAP denotes joining and concentration; KI denotes vital energy; and DO denotes the path and its crossing. “The route of the integration of energy,” they say. Hapkido is a set of methods and information for controlling the body’s joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles, as well as breath and blood strangleholds and direct blows on key places, that together form a full and efficient defensive system.
Master Choi Yong-Sool gave Hapkido its contemporary framework in the middle of the twentieth century. It evolved from a fusion of samurai Yamara (Daito Ryu School of Master Takeda) and Korean Bi-Sool.
Using his extensive practice in South Korea, instructor Philippe Pinerd demonstrates key principles of Hapkido training. Haki Sul methods are shown and recorded utilizing two cameras on this DVD, making them easier to learn and understand. This DVD shows: falling, releases, wrist locks, garment locks, arm strikes, leg strikes, defensive assaults, and so on.
