PUNISH adds character and edge to any mix or instrument sound, from subtle warmth to intense thrust and compression. It’s the same PUNISH effect you know and love from Heavyocity’s award-winning collection of virtual instruments, now available as a VST/AU/AAX plugin. PUNISH, which is modeled around Heavyocity’s bespoke analog signal chains, allows you to regulate Compression, Saturation, Transients, EQ, and Limiting. Connect the modules to create the trademark PUNISH sound, or isolate them to explore each dynamic impact on its own.
The worldwide PUNISH Knob is at the core of it all. Simply choose your parameters and use the one knob to control the destruction.
Saturation / Compression
The PUNISH Compressor delivers a wide dynamic range, rounded off with that traditional analog warmth, thanks to three separate compression types. A smooth Class A-style Buss Compressor (Console), an aggressive, thick sound with a traditional “knee” (Modern), and a warm vintage limiting amplifier-style are all included in the plugin (Classic).
The PUNISH Saturation module also has three distinct models, each with its own own brand of warmth, drive, and personality. The PUNISH Saturation module can add grit to a track or push it into overload with a traditional broadcast mic-pre (Vintage), a chunky harmonic saturation (Modern), and a big tube saturation (Tube).
EQ / Limiting / Transients
PUNISH’s Transient shaping module, which gives you control over the attack, sustain, and output gain, restores greater transients to the signal after saturating it. The module also includes a Hold control to regulate the length of the onslaught.
The EQ module is simple yet effective, providing high and low frequency lift. Set the EQ to Pre or Post to alter highs and lows before, during, or after the Comp, Sat, and Transient.
PUNISH additionally has a Limiter at the end of the chain to avoid clipping. When the Saturation gets very hairy, the soft clip amount and release time settings are crucial.
