DescriptionA globally acknowledged concern in psychiatry and psychology is the need for more effective therapies for mental health disorders. Research findings strongly support the efficacy of psychedelic medicines for a variety of clinical symptomologies, and clinical trials are currently underway in the US, UK, and EU, with MDMA and psilocybin expected to be available for legal use in US medical clinics for PTSD and depression, respectively, within 2 to 4 years. There will be a national demand in the coming years for medical and mental health practitioners to be prepared to undertake psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.
This tape will begin with a discussion of clinical study findings on psychedelic-assisted treatment for depression, anxiety, PTSD, end-of-life suffering, and drug misuse. The Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) and the California Institute of Integral Studies will be discussing professional training (CIIS). Some of the lessons from the CIIS professional training program will be included in the recording, which will cover neuropharmacology and research underpinnings, worldwide transformational traditions, mindfulness practices, therapist skills, and en vivo instruction. Following the presentation, there will be an interesting discussion regarding the role of such training for licensed psychotherapists and medical professionals, the future of the study, and where psychedelics sit within the most recent advancements in the mental health area.
