DescriptionThe sacroiliac joint has long been debated as a source of discomfort. This has altered as understanding about the anatomy and functioning of the joint has improved. It is currently documented in the literature that the SIJ is the source of pain in up to 30% of persons who arrive with LBP problems. Clinically, the SIJ can be difficult to assess. A working diagnosis of SIJ dysfunction can be clarified by assessing pain location and pattern, patient posture and movements, and clusters of physical provocation tests.
