Jean Jacques Machado was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is one of five brothers in the world-famous Machado Brazilian jiu-jitsu family.
Machado began practicing in jiu-jitsu almost thirty years ago.
From 1982 through 1992, he dominated the competitive arena of Brazilian jiu-jitsu in his own country, winning every major championship and competition award.
He moved to the United States in 1992 to continue his athletic career.
Machado, who dominated the Brazilian jiu-jitsu scene in both the United States and internationally, received international fame in 1999 with his performance at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club World Submission Wrestling Championships.
He is now regarded as one of the world’s most recognized and respected Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners.
