Jol Dollié is a passionate sound engineer who has been in love with music since he was seven years old. Growing up in Cournonsec, France, a little hamlet of 3000 people, Jol never imagined himself fine-tuning music for Hollywood blockbusters; until he did. Joel has mixed and mastered various songs for trailer publishers such as Sonic Symphony and Cavalry Music, which has created trailer music for films such as Venom, It, Dunkirk, and Logan. He mixed and mastered demos for the Spitfire BBC Orchestra collection. He’s also worked with Daniel Beijbom, the trailer music composer for Star Wars, Spiderman, and other brands. Jol is well known for creating symphonic wonders. He mixed and mastered Mozart’s symphonies 40 and 41 for the Danube Symphony Orchestra, led by the legendary Gavin Fraser. Jol began playing with music when he was 15, after discovering a natural ability for trailer and orchestral music composing. He quickly recognized that in order to properly bring out the best in his music, he would need to mix and master it. That’s when he began studying aficionados like Alan Meyerson, Tony Maserati, and Dave Pensado regularly. Jol began inventing his own (often odd) approaches to mix music after grasping the underlying science and observing how the greats accomplish it. Jol understands how slow (and exhausting) the path of becoming a well-educated sound engineer can be.

To help alter that, he published a book called “Mixing Modern Orchestral Music,” which is available on Amazon. The book discusses current approaches to analyzing contemporary symphonic music. It also covers several mixing principles and approaches that might help aspiring sound engineers accelerate their learning process. He decided to construct a complete course regarding symphonic and trailer music mixing with the same objective of training beginners.
