DescriptionEvery therapist has seen clients express embarrassment over their body size, regardless of where they practice or who they see. This shame is sometimes dismissed as an unpleasant aspect of our cultural norms, but when people are at odds with their bodies, it affects their career, relationships, and self-worth, frequently leading to anxiety and despair. To combat weight stigma and its harmful effects, doctors must acquire an alternative therapeutic paradigm for supporting physical and psychological well-being for persons of all sizes.
