The American Osteopathic Association has approved the Maine Osteopathic Association to offer doctors with osteopathic continuing medical education.
The Maine Osteopathic Association has designated this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credit and will submit CME and specialty credits based on the level of the physician’s involvement in this activity.
Karen J. Nichols, DO, MA, MACOI, CS is a DO graduate of the Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM). She also possesses a Master’s degree in Management from Central Michigan University with a concentration in Healthcare Administration. Through her great leadership, she has committed her career to developing osteopathic medical education. Dr. Nichols was the first female president of the AOMA, AOA, and American College of Osteopathic Internists. She was recently elected Vice Chair of the ACGME Board of Trustees, as well as Chair of the United Federation of Osteopathic Organizations (UFOS), a coalition of forty minor state societies, the District of Columbia, and the Military. Dr. Nichols recently retired as Dean of the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, a post she held from 2002 to 2018.
