A two-hour workshop focused on the application of osteopathic principles in the clinical management of migraine headaches, including the treatment of somatic dysfunction related to migraine headaches.
Educational Objectives:
- Define and discuss diagnostic criteria for migraine headaches.
- Explain the pathophysiology, including the etiology, epidemiology, and risk factors of migraine headaches.
- Discuss the clinical manifestations and the physical examination finding of migraine headaches.
- Describe and administer the osteopathic manipulative treatment approach to the management of migraine headaches and discuss the treatment goals of the various types of techniques.
Karen Snider, DO, FAAO, FNAOME, is a professor at A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM). Dr. Snider is board certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. She earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and she completed residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center. Dr. Snider has earned fellowship awards from the American Academy of Osteopathy and the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators.

Meredith Lagouros, DO is a family medicine physician from Peoria, Illinois. She is a faculty member and the director of osteopathic education at the University of Illinois Peoria Family Medicine residency. Meredith attended Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio and completed her family medicine residency at Summa Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio. When she is not at work, she is playing legos and princesses with her 3- and 6-year-old daughters, golf with husband Evan, or walking their rescue dog Max.
