This presentation will examine the disparities between different cultural, religious, and gender identifications in order to improve physician-patient interactions and patient well-being.
The following are the learning objectives:
Distinguish between explicit and unconscious prejudice.
Locate resources for learning about personal unconscious bias.
Examine the functions of movies in the formation of unconscious prejudice.
Create techniques for recognizing, exploring, and challenging unconscious prejudice.
Dr. Katie Davenport-Kabonic graduated with honors from the AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM) and was named an MAOPS Wetzel Scholar in 2012. Her residency was conducted at Cox Family Medicine in Springfield, Missouri. Her Obstetrics fellowship was done at Cox Family Medicine in Springfield, Missouri. She is presently a Faculty Physician at Cox Health Family Medicine with Obstetrics and the SWMO AHEC – Springfield Director of Student Medical Education in Springfield, Missouri. Dr. Davenport-Kabonic is also a member of the MAOPS Education and Convention Committee, the KCOM Curriculum Committee, the Lead Physician for the Walk With A Doc program, and she recently received her RYS 200 certification from Ozark Mountain Yoga.
