Concerning the Course
This course examines food as it impacts the health and well-being of all humans. Taste preferences, food aversions, hunger and satiety management, food as comfort and camaraderie, eating as a social ritual, and societal conventions of blame for food issues are all covered. Sustainable agriculture, organic farming, genetically modified foods, nutrition policy, and the impact of the food and agriculture sectors are all topics covered in food politics. Malnutrition, eating disorders, and the worldwide obesity pandemic are all discussed, as is the influence of food advertising directed at children, poverty and food, and how the modern environment affects each individual’s eating habits.
