Description
Techniques for dealing with criticism, scorn, defensiveness, and stonewalling in couples
Use mindfulness to deescalate and soothe your customers.
Live demos combining mindfulness with EFT, Gottman Therapy, and IMAGO methods.Do you want to be more productive in your work with couples? Do you want to know how to make it easier for couples in crisis to relax, create trust, and deescalate?
Mindfulness is well recognized as a strong stress-reduction technique, yet most couples in difficulty do not seek out a therapist to learn how to meditate. This lecture teaches you how to use mindfulness strategically (without meditation) to defuse criticism and negativity in a relationship without frightening your partners away. Your clients can feel the pleasure of discovering new capacities within themselves and hope in the face of conflict in their relationship as a direct result of implementing the mindfulness practices presented in this course.
Watch this tape to discover the basic mindfulness skills that most easily translate into a coherent conceptual framework for couples therapy practices. You will be exposed to simple parts of today’s most popular couples therapy treatments, as well as practical procedures for combining mindfulness with tactics from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), The Gottman Method couples therapy, and IMAGO Relationship Therapy.
Keith Miller’s interesting, interactive lecture includes demonstrations and video. You will leave with a strong grasp of how and when to apply mindfulness practices to help couples find comfort and healing.
